One-Pot Cabbage Pasta

Cabbage Pasta Ingredients

Cabbage Pasta is a great introduction to one-pot cooking because it’s so simple. There are only a few ingredients, and the prep time is quick.

But what makes it even better is the fact that you can make this sauce in one pot without a lot of dirty dishes. And the result is an extremely flavorful dish that’s full of vegetables and protein.

200g dried pasta
125g frozen inexperienced peas
Three tablespoons butter, divided into 3
350g kielbasa sausage reduce into rounds
1 massive onion, halved and thinly sliced
1 medium pink pepper, cored and thinly sliced
salt and black pepper
1 pinch of chilli flakes, or extra dependant on how scorching you need it
1 medium sweetheart cored, quartered, and shredded
Dried fried onions

1/4 cup dry white wine (such as Pinot Grigio), or chicken broth for nondairy eaters.

Take one pot, and an irritating cabbage, and throw them into the vessel. You need the cabbage to be broken up with a few knifes and vary occupied by some butter. Periodically add in 3 portions of frozen peas, then an enormous quantity of kielbasa sausage cut into thick circles, yet another layer of peas. Next up are some onion slices each chopped up into three-chunked peppers, salt and black pepper to taste (I recommend 1/2 teaspoon), and last but not least a pinch of chilli flakes if you’re feeling particularly brave (you have been warned!).

The first thing you need to know about this recipe is that it’s a one-pot wonder. It takes just 30 minutes from start to finish (and yes, even if you live in the middle of nowhere and have no idea how to cook), and you don’t even need to dirty another pot.

This is one of those things that sounds like it should be complicated, but it’s not. The recipe starts with sautéing onion and garlic in olive oil, then adding tomato paste and beef broth. We use both red wine and chicken broth for extra flavor, but feel free to substitute with vegetable broth or water if needed.

That’s when the magic happens: we add cabbage and peas, cook until everything is tender, then add sausage for a little meaty richness. Now all that’s left to do is warm up some linguine (or your favorite pasta) in the same pot!
